Join us for an engaging and reflective session using two of Taylor Swift’s songs to explore experiencing or witnessing trauma and its lasting impact. This session will examine how we communicate about trauma and how it shapes our feelings and relationships.
It is open to anyone interested in exploring clinical experience through the medium of popular music. There are no prerequisites. You need no prior knowledge of music theory or popular culture (i.e. Taylor Swift trivia/“lore”). No prior writing experience is required.
Close Listening and Discussion:
We'll begin with an analysis of the songs "Epiphany" from Folklore and "Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve" from Midnights (3am Edition). Our discussion will focus on how the songs tell stories about and reflect on recent and remote traumatic experiences.
Reflective Writing and Sharing:
After our discussion, participants will engage in a reflective writing exercise. We will have time for interested writers to share their reflections with the group.
This session will not be recorded.
